A new Community Resource Centre (CRC) has opened in Roebourne, providing Pilbara residents and businesses with access to important services, information and technology.
The centre, officially opened today, is operated by not-for-profit organisation Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation Ltd.
The Roebourne hub joins more than 100 rural, remote and regional CRCs which make up the Western Australian Community Resource Network, supported by the McGowan Government.
There are three centres located in the Pilbara, connecting the communities of Marble Bar, Tom Price and Roebourne with services and technologies that would not otherwise be available due to their remote location.
The Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation Ltd has been operating in the Pilbara for more than 20 years, with the aim of establishing a sustainable future for its members and beneficiaries across social, cultural, economic, health, business and education opportunities.
The new hub is located at the Ganalili Centre on Roe Street.
Comments attributed to Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:
“CRCs are a vital part of service delivery and support to small and regional Western Australian towns.
“Under the management of Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation Ltd, this hub will support the needs of the community and provide significant benefits for local residents and businesses.
“Roebourne will benefit from greater coordination among service providers and more readily available information relating to community activities and opportunities.
“The CRC will provide a space that people can visit to get relevant information on local services and programs available to them, as well as access information and communications technology (ICT) capabilities to support social and economic development activities.
“Key stakeholders and service providers will benefit from having an organisation that can share information with the community on their behalf to help improve their engagement outcomes.”
